yearns for a sleep that won't ever come
How I wish I could choose between Heaven and Hell / How I wish I would save my soul./ I'm so cold from fear.
The humans use Arecibo to look for extraterrestrial intelligence. Their desire to make a connection is so strong that they’ve created an ear capable of hearing across the universe.
But I and my fellow parrots are right here. Why aren’t they interested in listening to our voices?
We’re a nonhuman species capable of communicating with them. Aren’t we exactly what humans are looking for?
The universe is so vast that intelligent life must surely have arisen many times. The universe is also so old that even one technological species would have had time to expand and fill the galaxy. Yet there is no sign of life anywhere except on Earth. Humans call this the Fermi paradox.
One proposed solution to the Fermi paradox is that intelligent species actively try to conceal their presence, to avoid being targeted by hostile invaders.
Speaking as a member of a species that has been driven nearly to extinction by humans, I can attest that this is a wise strategy.
It makes sense to remain quiet and avoid attracting attention.
I am so tired, numb and wasted, that I nearly slipped my finger onto Connect. And then, into Add Friend.
My daily pilgrimage routine has its risks, it seems. But my believe that my actions would be welcome remains a far fetched prayer. An inconsequential deep rooted wish.
Did not happen, because you asked me for respect, and it would be disrespectful. There are now 1900 km in between us. And no path to join us, just a silence wall to keep you safe from my madness.
Well, apart from the emotional eating.
They never tell you that the worst part isn't missing the past we had.
It's missing the future we'll never get.
I wasted so much time wanting you to be something else for me, I didn't appreciate what you were.
My Love. My only Love.
No matter how stressed I was, you would find a way to calm me, and make me believe. There was a scent around you that made me stronger. Sometimes I would shown as puzzled, angry, nervous, but inside was just an Oasis, maybe some excitement, but never a draining feeling.
Even when we would go through stressful moments, your voice was sooting. And if I could kiss you, hold you, feel you, then the world around didn't matter.
As you forget me, and silence becomes sepulchral, I miss you more and more.
